How Strum calculates goal progress

Progress

Progress is the current value of the linked portfolios or account compared with the goal amount. It updates automatically as the portfolio value changes.

Next to it you'll see Time progress: how much of the time until the target date has already passed.

Forecast

Strum builds three scenarios: pessimistic, expected, and optimistic. Next to them, the chart shows Progress — how the value has actually grown.

The forecast depends on:

  • your starting capital;
  • regular deposits and how often you make them;
  • the expected return;
  • inflation, if "Adjust values for inflation" is turned on.

Expected return

  • Use portfolio return — Strum calculates it from the portfolio's asset class allocation and the average return of those classes.
  • Manual input — you set your own value.

Strum doesn't recommend any specific return. Choose a value that fits your strategy. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results.
