A custom asset is an asset that isn't in Strum's database. For example:
- an apartment or other real estate;
- a bank deposit;
- corporate bonds;
- a stake in a business;
- a car;
- a collection;
- crypto staking.
A custom asset's ticker ends in -C, for example MYFUND-C.
How to create one
- Open your profile (the avatar in the top-right corner) → "Custom assets". Or choose "Add custom asset" in the asset search.
- Choose the asset type. Strum fills in the category for you and walks you through the steps.
- Enter the name, ticker, purchase price, approximate year of purchase and current value.
- If the asset brings income (interest, rent), set up a payment schedule. Strum will create the accruals for you.
- Choose a portfolio: an existing one, a new one or none for now.
- Check the details and click "Create asset".
Custom asset prices
Strum doesn't update custom asset prices automatically. You enter the new price yourself:
- Open your profile → "Custom assets" and choose the asset.
- On the "Prices" tab, click "Add price row".
To add many prices at once, use "Bulk import prices". Format: one line per entry, YYYY-MM-DD,price. For example: 2026-09-01,1250.50.
You can add payouts on the "Dividends" tab the same way.
Limits
The number of custom assets depends on your plan. If you reach the limit, Strum will offer to upgrade your plan.
