1. Try a different search
Strum's search understands three formats:
- ticker — for example, AAPL;
- name — full or partial, for example "Vanguard";
- ISIN — for example, US0378331005.
One asset can have different tickers on different exchanges. For example, Volkswagen trades as VOW3.DE on Xetra and as VWAGY in the US. If the ticker doesn't turn up, try the name or ISIN. Exchange suffixes are covered in "Tickers and exchange suffixes (.DE, .L and others)".
2. Request a new asset
If the asset trades on an exchange but isn't in Strum:
- In the asset search field, choose "Request new asset".
- Paste the ticker or a link to the asset's page on another site, such as Yahoo Finance.
- Choose the asset currency.
- Click "Request asset".
What happens next:
- Often the asset is added right away, and you can start using it.
- If the asset is already in Strum, you'll see it in the suggestions.
- If it can't be added automatically, the request goes to the team for review.
Request one asset at a time.
3. Add a custom asset
If the asset isn't exchange-traded, or you need it right now, create a custom asset. You enter its price yourself. For details, see "Custom assets".
Which assets Strum has
- Stocks and ETFs — from a limited list of exchanges. For example, Strum doesn't have Russian exchanges or the exchange in Astana.
- Bonds — Ukrainian only.
- Cryptocurrency — the largest coins. Little-known coins that trade only OTC or P2P may not be in the database.
- Options, futures and other complex instruments aren't tracked by Strum. Instead of an option, you can add the underlying stock or ETF.
If the asset you need isn't in the database, create a custom asset.
